Love Food Hate Waste
Metro Vancouver is proud to be a partner in the National Zero Waste Council’s national campaign to reduce food waste, Love Food Hate Waste Canada. Across Canada, 63% of our food waste is avoidable. Reducing food waste helps the environment, reduces pressure on our infrastructure, and can save residents money. Love Food Hate Waste Canada offers easy tips and ideas to reduce food waste at home.
Single-Use Items
Information on single-use item reduction in Metro Vancouver and the new Single-Use Item Toolkit created to provide local governments with resources and best practices on single-use item reduction.
Clothing Waste
Research into textiles waste dating back to 2016, and Metro Vancouver’s ‘Think Thrice About your Clothes’ campaign, which provides tangible tips and solutions to help residents reduce their own clothing waste.
National Zero Waste Council
A cross-sector leadership initiative bringing together governments, businesses, and non-government organizations to advance a national waste prevention and reduction agenda in Canada.
Illegal Dumping
Deliberately abandoning household items on public or private property is considered illegal dumping. There are options to properly dispose of unwanted items and waste. Find information on municipal pick-up services and locations to donate or recycle.
Zero Waste Conference
The national Zero Waste Conference (ZWC) attracts thought leaders from around the world, highlighting circular economy success stories, waste prevention innovations, and local and global perspectives as the shift to waste prevention and a circular economy continues to gain momentum.
