Enforcement of disposal bans that were temporarily relaxed due to flood impacts and collection of recycling fees for mattresses and box springs at Metro Vancouver solid waste facilities resumed January 1, 2022.
In November 2021, Metro Vancouver initiated temporary disposal ban relaxations for recyclable materials and a relaxation of the disposal ban and waiving of recycling fees for mattresses and box springs due to impacts of the flooding in the Fraser Valley on material transportation, collection, and processing systems. Correspondences issued on the temporary actions are below.
The temporary disposal ban surcharge waiver on waxed cardboard remains in place and will be reviewed in advance of expiry on July 18, 2022.
