Welcome to the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR) survey.
The LSCR is a multi-use area that supports multiple interests and uses of the area, including those of water utility, ecological, recreational, and educational significance. Sustainable management of this unique area is important and requires the balance of many considerations in order to achieve the goals set out in the LSCR Management Plan (September 2002). As part of the Plan, Metro Vancouver seeks to “encourage and support a high level of public involvement in ongoing decision-making, program delivery, management and monitoring activities.”
To achieve this goal in the past, Metro Vancouver has held special events, public forums (called the LSCR Stewardship Forums) and formed stewardship groups.
We are now looking at ways to further promote public input and encourage involvement in stewardship activities in the LSCR. In addition, Metro Vancouver is evaluating how to best facilitate working groups for specific LSCR initiatives, such as recreational, fundraising, invasive species removal, habitat enhancement, monitoring and education programs.
Your responses will help us determine the best ways to achieve the goals mentioned above, as well as how to best provide information and input opportunities for the LSCR.
Please note that the deadline for responses is Friday, July 30, 2010.
