Regional Park Reserves & Ecological Conservancy Areas
Metro Vancouver's regional parks system includes three regional park reserves (Blaney Bog, Widgeon Marsh and Fraser Islands) and two ecological conservancy areas (Burns Bog and Codd Wetland). A reserve is a regional park that is not yet open to the public. The priority for the ecological conservation areas is ecological protection, not public use.

Natural Resource Management
Metro Vancouver's goal is to conserve ecosystem health to ensure long-term resiliency. Regional parks play an important role in conserving natural processes, and also sustaining diverse biological communities and habitat. Our goal is to accommodate public use of parkland within the limits of acceptable impact to the ecosystems.
