Fraser River Crossing

Diverting flows from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to the Northwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Plant requires two new sewer pipes. Two pipes will extend from the new pump station in Maple Ridge, under the Fraser River, to the treatment plant. The proposed alignment runs parallel to the Golden Ears Bridge. The crossing will be carried out using horizontal directional drilling (drilling a tunnel under the riverbed) to avoid impacts to the river.

Geotechnical investigations will be required in the river and that work will be planned in consultation with Fraser River users and permitting agencies to minimize impacts to river activity and the river itself.
