South Surrey InterceptorSouth Surrey Interceptor<div class="ExternalClassB9082A00D781420B99686A2189092EDB"><p>The South Surrey Interceptor is a large sewer pipe that collects sewage from South Surrey and Langley, and carries it to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in the City of Delta. To accommodate regional growth and improve environmental protection, Metro Vancouver is constructing a second sewer line near the existing pipe using both open trench excavation and tunneling construction methods. <br></p><p>Construction of this new pipe will take place in multiple phases, beginning in 2018 and continuing over the next several years.<br></p></div>City of Surrey

<div class="ExternalClass8666EF3F1AD1446C82D8BDEA4B610B89"><p>Construction activities for the South Surrey Interceptor Upgrade will include:</p><ul><li>Delivery of construction equipment and materials<br></li><li>Excavating a trench<br></li><li>Installing the pipe<br></li><li>Temporary road closures<br></li><li>Temporary property access restrictions (alternate access points will be provided and advanced notice will be given)<br></li><li>Traffic detours<br></li><li>Tree removal <br></li><li>Noise<br></li><li>Occasional odour<br></li></ul></div><div class="ExternalClass2CD9DB8FB2FF4A099CAF7C525D5424B5"><div>Traffic and pedestrian access will be affected. There will be temporary road closures and detours in effect. Metro Vancouver will have a full-time site inspector on the project whose duties include monitoring construction and public stafey. </div><div><br></div><div>Please expect delays and follow the direction of traffic control personnel and detour route signs near the construction areas. <br></div></div><div class="ExternalClassD6343EBE9A504CC1B6CC380D5E250D53"><p>Work will occur from Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Crews will make efforts to complete the work in a timely manner and reduce impacts to local residents and businesses. <br></p><p>Crews may be required to work later or on weekends to complete specific tasks and stay on schedule. Information updates will be provided as construction proceeds. All work will comply with City of Surrey noise bylaws or granted bylaw variances.<br></p> </div><div class="ExternalClassCEEE5C15A2704E84B1E2C87A10EDA1F3"><p>​Metro Vancouver is committed to minimzing the impacts of construction on the community.
