Sapperton Pump StationSapperton Pump Station<div class="ExternalClassB520E981B38241398BE3C4EE272150D5"><p>​Work is now underway on the new pump station adjacent to Sapperton Landing in New Westminster. </p><p>As part of this essential infrastructure upgrade and to support park use, Metro Vancouver will also provide a public washroom, plaza, parking and an extension to the Brunette-Fraser Regional Greenway.</p><p>The existing Sapperton Pump Station is the region's largest pump station. It moves sewage from several municipalities to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Delta. A new station is needed to meet the growing population in the region. In addition to a functioning sewer system, the project will also benefit the community by providing:</p><ul><li>Habitat improvements, riverbank restoration, and ecological enhancements</li><li>New publicly accessible green space</li><li>A public washroom </li><li>A plaza, landscaping and green space </li><li>Public art and/or interpretive materials </li><li>Opportunities for picnicking, fishing, and nature viewing </li><li>An extension to the <a href="/services/parks/parks-greenways-reserves/brunette-fraser-regional-greenway">Brunette-Fraser Regional Greenway</a></li></ul></div>City of New Westminster

    ​Metro Vancouver continues to closely monitor developments regarding COVID-19 and our paramount commitment is to maintain essential services to the region while protecting the health and safety of our employees and partners. Metro Vancouver's construction projects are key components in ensuring the ongoing delivery of essential services as defined by the Province of BC. Metro Vancouver follows the guidance of the Provincial Health Officer and is taking all necessary measures to ensure our worksites remain safe and healthy.

All work will comply with City of New Westminster noise bylaws or granted bylaw variances.</p></div>
