Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee
Between 1993 and 2012, the Lower Mainland Treaty Advisory Committee (LMTAC) represented the collective interests of local governments in defining and building relationships between First Nations and other orders of government.
LMTAC's priority roles included the following:
- Communicating the collective interests of local government in area treaty processes to Provincial, Federal, and First Nations governments,
- Advising and updating LMTAC members regarding local government interests in Aboriginal issues and in treaty negotiations,
- Monitoring and, where necessary, responding to non-treaty aboriginal issues that may impact the collective local government interest, and
- Facilitating the development of effective working relationships between local governments and First Nations.
