Engine Prohibition

Certain Tier 0 engines can no longer operate in Metro Vancouver.

Tier 0 Prohibition

Non-Road Diesel Engine Emission Bylaw 1161, 2012 prohibits the operation of Tier 0 engines in Metro Vancouver as of January 1, 2015, unless the engine was previously registered and had a minimum 90-day operating period purchased.

Use Metro Vancouver’s Engine Lookup Tool to check if your Tier 0 or Tier 1 engine is authorized to operate.

Tier 1 Prohibition

Starting January 1, 2020 Tier 1 engines cannot be operated in Metro Vancouver unless the engine was registered and had a minimum 90-day operating period purchased.

Register Tier 1 engines before the Tier 1 Prohibition using Metro Vancouver’s Online Registration System.
