Sapperton Pump Station & Cumberland Point Green Space

Metro Vancouver is developing a new pump station and green space on two neighbouring sites in the Sapperton area of New Westminster.

The projects leverage an essential infrastructure upgrade to create new public green space, expand the Brunette-Fraser Regional Greenway, and restore valuable habitat.

  • Project Benefits

The existing Sapperton Pump Station is the region's largest pump station. It moves sewage from several municipalities to the treatment plant at Annacis Island. A new station is needed to meet the growing population in the region. In addition to a functioning sewer system, the project will also benefit the community by providing:

    • Habitat improvements, riverbank restoration, and ecological enhancements
    • New publically accessible green space
    • A public washroom
    • A plaza, landscaping and green space
    • Public art and/or interpretive materials
    • Opportunities for picnicking, fishing, and nature viewing
    • An extension to the Brunette-Fraser Regional Greenway
  • Hours of Work & Noise

Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. All noise will comply with City of New Westminster noise bylaws or granted bylaw variances.
