Construction starts on North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant | Construction starts on North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant | <div class="ExternalClass3CC9B7655D7341C09A21D37BBAE0D961"><p>Metro Vancouver’s North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant is one step closer to reality, with construction set to begin on the $700-million project. </p><p>A groundbreaking ceremony was held last month on the site, attended by Chair Greg Moore, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, and Mable Elmore, MLA for Vancouver-Kensington. Councillor Chris Lewis of the Squamish Nation, Robin Hicks, councillor for the District of North Vancouver and Darrell Mussatto, Chair of Metro Vancouver’s Utilities Committee, were also at the event.</p><p>The North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant is being built on a Metro Vancouver-owned site in the District of North Vancouver, approximately two kilometers east of the existing Lions Gate Wastewater Treatment Plant. The old plant will be decommissioned and the lands returned to the Squamish Nation.
