Northwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade CompletionNorthwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Completion

Metro Vancouver has recently completed an upgrade to the Northwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Plant. The plant treats wastewater from residents and businesses in the Langley area and discharges the treated effluent into the Fraser River. The upgrades are required to accommodate population growth and will greatly improve the quality of the effluent, protecting public health and the environment.

The upgrades include three secondary clarifiers (settling tanks), an activated sludge tank and trickling filter pump station. These upgrades provide additional capacity for treatment of solids that come into the plant prior to being discharged. This improves the water quality and ensures that the plant will continue to meet federal and provincial regulations, as well as the Metro Vancouver’s Integrated Liquid Waste and Resource Management Plan.

Upgrades like these are just one way Metro Vancouver’s sewerage system protects public health and the environment.
