UBC and Metro Vancouver Strategic CollaborationUBC and Metro Vancouver Strategic Collaboration

Metro Vancouver and UBC have just signed a Strategic Collaboration Memorandum of Understanding based on a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. The two institutions have a history of working together on projects (over 80 in a recent tally) and have recently entered into a joint agreement on the use of Metro Vancouver’s Annacis Research Centre as a teaching and research facility.

The MOU identifies three areas that will benefit both organizations and the region as a whole. These areas are:

Research, Learning and Innovation - UBC and Metro Vancouver will share knowledge and research findings, collaborate on new research and address regional and global sustainability challenges. Through the new Sustainable Region Scholars program, UBC students will apply their research skills to benefit the region.

Operations - UBC is a significant provider of local services on campus, and to the 10,000 residents of the growing University Neighbourhoods. Metro Vancouver provides core regional services to both locations. Certain service-related challenges that affect both organizations are better addressed collaboratively through joint efforts and solutions. Under the MOU, we will identify new solutions to address such challenges.

Regional Prosperity - The MOU brings the two institutions together as part of a broader multi-party initiative to address the region’s prosperity. Efforts to identify and act on priorities for climate action, to align regional growth with transportation strategies and investment, and to address issues that hamper the competitiveness of the regional economy are among those that will be tackled through the multi-party initiative.

Funding for future collaborative projects will continue to be provided through normal budgeting processes.

http://www.metrovancouver.org/metroupdate/PublishingImages/issue16-arc.jpg2015-12-22T08:00:00ZGP0|#6818d587-f8ee-4672-81e8-10422dd671aa;L0|#06818d587-f8ee-4672-81e8-10422dd671aa|Issue 16;GTSet|#d14ffe11-45dc-48fb-8684-ff109cf15a74

Metro Vancouver and UBC have a history of working together (over 80 projects in a recent tally) and have recently entered into a joint agreement on further research, collaboration and learning.

0
