New Air Quality Monitoring Station in New WestminsterNew Air Quality Monitoring Station in New Westminster<div class="ExternalClassC6FF9214DEA2458EADA5D9E790CCFCF9"><p>Metro Vancouver operates a series of permanent air quality monitoring stations throughout our airshed, from Horseshoe Bay to Hope. The newest permanent station is in New Westminster. With support from the City of New Westminster, the new station shares an existing New Westminster Parks building in Sapperton Park.</p><p>The New Westminster air quality monitoring station is the 29th permanent station operated by Metro Vancouver as part of the Lower Fraser Valley Air Quality Monitoring Network. The new station measures levels of <a href="/services/air-quality/AirQualityPublications/GLOFactsheet.pdf" target="_blank">ground-level ozone</a>, <a href="/services/air-quality/AirQualityPublications/NOxFactsheet.pdf" target="_blank">nitrogen oxides</a> and <a href="/services/air-quality/AirQualityPublications/PMFactsheet.pdf" target="_blank">fine particulate matter</a> (PM2.5) which are used to calculate the <a href="http://www.ec.gc.ca/cas-aqhi/default.asp?lang=En&n=CB0ADB16-1" target="_blank">Air Quality Health Index</a>.
