Hikers are advised that the Grouse Grind Trail in Grouse Mountain Regional Park will be closing for seasonal safety maintenance as of Tuesday, May 22, 2018.Maintenance will include rock scaling, danger tree removal, step repair and safety netting replacement to get the world famous trail ready for heavy use during the summer. The work is needed to keep the Grouse Grind Trail safe and to ensure it can withstand the pounding of an anticipated 500,000 visits this year. Maintenance work is expected to be completed in three to four weeks.Metro Vancouver Regional Parks crews were able to do some trail maintenance on the lower sections of the trail earlier this spring, and now that all of the snow is clear at higher elevations, the bulk of the necessary maintenance work can be completed. For safety reasons, crews must suspend work if there are hikers on the Grouse Grind Trail, which will disrupt this work and delay the reopening of the Grouse Grind. Please respect the trail closure so that the necessary maintenance can be completed as quickly as possible. The BCMC Trail will remain open and hikers are encouraged to use it as an alternative.
