​The Youth4Action Regional Ambassadors program brings together engaged high-school youth from across Metro Vancouver a form a cohesive regional team. Ambassadors are supported to know, value and understand regional sustainability priorities to influence awareness and inspire sustainability. As Ambassadors, students will participate in a diverse range of Youth4Action activities to support them to gain the knowledge and skills needed to make our region better together.

Effective teamwork, communication, systems thinking and collaboration will be emphasized to grow the Youth4Action Network while honouring the exceptional ability of youth leaders to influence sustainability through school-based leadership.



The Opportunity

  • Develop skills to lead and influence awareness and action for sustainability at school and in the community
  • Get to know sustainability leaders from across our region, including subject matter experts, community partners, elected officials, and Youth4Action alumni
  • Receive coaching and mentorship to support successful and high impact action projects
  • Experience the power of teamwork, effective communication, and collaboration to enhance your leadership skills and sphere of influence
  • Learn about Metro Vancouver’s regional sustainability priorities and meet champions working to create a sustainable and livable region for all
  • Make lasting connections with a regional cohort of engaged youth leaders who share a genuine commitment to creating a world where both people and planet can thrive

The Commitment

  • Represent your School District as part of a diverse regional network of Youth4Action Ambassadors and student leaders
  • Participate fully and contribute to the effective growth of Youth4Action’s regional network and impact
  • Attend monthly online regional network meetings and contribute to select in-person leadership experiences held during the school year
  • Bring forward updates, ideas and opportunities to enhance and improve collaboration
  • Increase the impact of youth leadership in your School District through succession planning, recruitment, and engagement

This program is offered at no cost to successful applicants. However, a full commitment to participate in all program components is required.


Who Should Apply?

Metro Vancouver Secondary Students (grades 9-12) who are passionate about sustainability, climate action and leadership. Students from the following School Districts in Metro Vancouver are encouraged to apply:

  • Burnaby
  • Coquitlam
  • Delta
  • Langley
  • Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows
  • New Westminster
  • North Vancouver
  • Richmond
  • Surrey
  • Vancouver
  • West Vancouver
  • Independent Schools

When Will the Program Take Place?

The Ambassador cohort will convene October 2021 through May 2022. All program components will take place outside of regular school hours.

Participation in the following program components is required:

  • Monthly Regional Network Meetings (1st Wednesday of each month, outside school hours, online beginning in October 2021)
  • October 22, Ambassador Planning Session (in-person)
  • October 23, Regional Leadership Session (in-person)
  • Two skill-building workshops on a jointly agreed upon theme such as active listening, team building, storytelling for sustainability, or others
  • November 20, World Changing Career Forum (in-person)
  • Participation in at least three leadership clinics hosted from February through May
