Waste Reduction Initiative
Country Celebration is striving to become a Zero Waste event and a leader in waste reduction. We encourage all vendors and exhibitors to help us achieve this goal. Our success is dependant on their cooperation and participation.

Here are just a few ideas on how exhibitors and vendors can help reduce waste at the event.

Commonly used material

Alternative

Plastic bags

Encourage visitors to use their Country Celebration re-useable tote bags.

Promotional and educational literature

Have display copies and encourage visitors to use the internet to access them at home.

Paper handouts

Be discretionary about the quantity and size of handouts you provide e.g. business cards instead of brochures. Use paper with recycled content.

Wrapping paper

Use newspaper and other paper packing material. Avoid the use of plastic and Styrofoam.

Single serve, individually wrapped candies

Avoid excessive packaging. Try interactive low waste incentives to attract audiences such as games or prize draws.

Children’s craft supplies

Re-use old items rather than new e.g. off-cuts, discards, misprints and over-stock.

To further discuss the Zero Waste goals, share your own creative waste reduction ideas, and ask any questions you might have:

Concessionaire
Interested concessionaires are encouraged to submit an application form for this year’s event before the July 1, 2012 deadline. Metro Vancouver Regional Parks encourages concessionaires with healthy food and beverage options to apply.

Waste Reduction Initiative
Country Celebration is striving to become a Zero Waste event and a leader in waste reduction. Our success is dependant on concessionaire cooperation and participation. We will support concessionaires in any way feasible, including providing information on composting and recycling, a supplier list for recyclable or biodegradable content products, and on-site recycling and composting containers.

As part of Metro Vancouver’s Tap Water Campaign, we will again be providing complimentary tap water for drinking. Sale of bottled water will not be allowed.

Incentives
This year, Metro Vancouver is offering two incentives to aid the transition of concessionaires toward Zero Waste: On-site recognition with signs acknowledging participation in the Zero Waste program, and a reduction in the commission percentage.
