What's New
Electoral Area A
Electoral Area A is made up of the following unincorporated areas:
  • the west side of Pitt Lake
  • the northern portion of Indian Arm
  • a portion of land between the District of West Vancouver and the Squamish
  • Lillooet Regional District (excluding the Village of Lions Bay)
  • the islands of Bowyer, Passage and Barnston
  • the University Endowment Lands (including Pacific Spirit Regional Park)
  • the University of British Columbia

General Services
These include a variety of tax-supported, regional services that are provided to other member municipalities:

  • 9-1-1 emergency telephone
  • Air quality
  • General government
  • Labour relations
  • Regional parks
  • Strategic planning

Local Services
These are specific to the needs of communities within the Electoral Area and include:

  • building permits and inspection
  • local planning (except for Passage Island and Bowyer Island)
  • general administration which includes responding to needs that arise in all communities and assisting them by conducting studies, facilitating aid agreements, and working with the residents to address their concerns
  • land use planning, election and general administration services for the University Endowment Lands (UEL). This is a unique situation because the planning and administration are provided by the province, but the residents are able to vote for the Electoral Area director.
