Camosun Bog Restoration Saturday Work Parties  | |  | Be a Hero of the Bog - join a work party
at Camosun Bog. Get dirty and sweaty,
pull out small trees by their roots, and
become intimate with sphagnum moss.
Work parties are held every Saturday all
year. First-time volunteers please arrive
at 10 am. Meet at the platform in the
centre of the bog and wear old clothes
and work gloves.
Ages 14+
Free. Registration not required.

Silver Sneakers and Little Trekkers Hiking Club  | |  | Here is an adventure to enjoy with your grandchild.
This is a series of easy two hour guided hikes in our
wondrous Capilano Canyon. Little Trekkers should be
5 years and older and be able to understand directions
when given. All should have strong footwear for the
trail. Bring raingear, light snacks and a water bottle.
Instructor: Olga Ottens.

Silver Sneakers Hiking Club  | |  | Enjoy a guided hike along forested trails of Lynn
Headwaters Regional Park. Designed for active people
over the age of 50, these hikes are moderately strenuous,
and traverse some rough trail with steep sections.
Participants should have previous hiking experience.
Bring sturdy footwear, warm clothing, raingear and
a snack. Hikes offered rain or shine. Instructor: Olga
Ottens.

Boundary Bay Old Field Managament Strategy Information Meeting  | |  | The conservation and management of grassland habitat within Boundary Bay Regional Park is important to support a variety of wildlife species that are dependent on them. In light of this Metro Vancouver Parks will be embarking on a long-term plan for grassland management within Boundary Bay Regional Park. Come learn about the value of old-field habitats and how Metro Vancouver will be working to enhance these within the park. Metro Vancouver staff will be presenting their strategy and will be on hand to answer questions. |

Heating Your Home Workshop  | |  | Light House will present four case studies of homes that participated in our 2010 Green Building Challenge: the Norman Residence, the Hayter Residence, the Babicki-Moore Residence, the Mah Residence, and the Kerchum Residence. Come learn about the energy, water and waste reductions achieved, challenges encountered, and lessons learned by the owners of each project.
Whether you are building a new home, planning a major renovation or a few minor upgrades, there are many things to consider in order to optimize the comfort and efficiency of your home including: passive design strategies, upgrading your building envelope and heating system, and utilizing renewable energy.
The workshop will be followed by a tour of the Babicki-Moore Residence. |

All Night Star Gazing  | |  | Come out for an all night star
party. Astronomers from the Royal
Astronomical Society Vancouver Centre
will lead you in finding some of the 110
Messier ‘objects’ including galaxies and
star clusters. Park interpreters will tell
legends around the campfire and lead
guided constellation walks from 8 pm to
midnight. To take part in this open air,
all night event, participants must arrive
before 11 pm.
Wear warm clothing and footwear
suitable to the weather. Bring a flashlight,
blankets and a snack if you plan on
staying all night. This program is weather
dependent. Complete cloud cover will
result in cancellation by 4 PM on the
event day.
$2/drop in fee.

You’ll also benefit from the lead-by-example strategies which the strata community of Station Place chose to reduce their consumption and lower their greenhouse gas emissions. |
