Metro Vancouver joined the battle against single-use items such as utensils, plastic bags and coffee cups, released a 10-Year Housing plan, and continued with projects such as the Kennedy Newton Water Main and Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant.<br><br>A program to reduce emissions and exposure to traffic-related air pollutants is also being developed after a national study on near-road diesel emissions confirmed that concentrations of air contaminants are higher near major roads. Did you know one million residents live near busy routes?<br><br>Also last month, Metro Vancouver hosted its ninth annual Zero Waste Conference and National Zero Waste Council AGM - over 500 participants turned out to hear the thoughts and work of Canadian and International experts related to the Circular Economy.
