Welcomehttp://www.metrovancouver.org/metroupdate/issue-33/470/WelcomeWelcome<div class="ExternalClassDC41AE26F9EF4C868BD9C36FBC5CD837"><p>With warmer temperatures finally starting to sweep across Metro Vancouver, we are keeping a closer eye on air quality, as well as preparing for the potential threat of wildfires, which pose a significant risk to our vast and largely forested lands across the region. </p><p>At the same time, we are busy developing a strategy to manage abandoned waste that is being dumped in our streets and alleyways, taking the initial steps to upgrade the Iona Wastewater Treatment Plant to secondary treatment and considering how the Province's Energy Step Code will assist in bringing in measures to make all new buildings in the region "net zero energy ready" by 2032.</p><p>On the lighter side, the Grouse Grind Trail has officially opened for the summer as the flagship trail in Grouse Mountain Regional Park -- the 24th park in Metro Vancouver's portfolio -- and there are still a lot of events slated at our other parks as part of our 50th anniversary.
