Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation (MVHC) owns and operates 50 plus affordable rental housing sites across the Lower Mainland, providing housing for more than 10,000 people.  Our vibrant housing communities are a diverse mix of families, seniors and people with disabilities.  We offer housing for a mixed range of incomes.  Rents vary from competitive market rates to assisted rents for those with lower incomes.  Properties have spacious well maintained grounds, many in beautiful park like settings; most are close to transit, schools, community/recreation centres and shopping.
How do I apply?

If you want to be considered for a market unit, fill out an MVHC application.  If you are unsure of which category you fall into, you can either call the MVHC office, or simply fill out a MVHC application. Upon review of your application, it will be sorted to the proper program.

Who is eligible?

All housing is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and is dependent on the individual or household need. MVHC provides housing for families, seniors and people with mental and/or physical disabilities.   Once an applicant(s) has been housed as an LEM tenant, they are not eligible to apply for rent assistance until the 1 year anniversary of their tenancy.

Housing Standards

MVHC follows the national housing standard for unit allocaiton:  no more than two no less than one person per bedroom, couples share a bedroom, parents don't share bedrooms with children, dependants aged 13 or older may have their own bedroom, dependants of opposite sex over the age of five don't share bedrooms.
Limited Subsidy Program

MVHC mandate is to provide affordable rental housing on a non-profit basis. However, there are a limited number of units in the subsidy program. The Corporation portfolio consists of "rent-geared-to-income", partial rent assistance, and low-end-of-market units. There are several different housing programs and each building falls under a specific program type. Some are federally funded programs while others receive funding from the provincial governments. Different rules and regulations govern each program. Specific information can be gained by calling the number listed below.
