In 2015-2016, Metro Vancouver conducted preliminary work including concept designs, geotechnical work, and odour and traffic assessments. In 2017 Metro Vancouver developed a detailed facility design
considering input from municipal and commercial transfer station users. Construction is planned for 2018 and 2019, with an operation date in late 2019.
Public Engagement and Consultation
Metro Vancouver is committed to engaging neighbouring businesses and interested residents to ensure the facility fits in with the community, and to maximize benefits for transfer station users. As part of this commitment, Metro Vancouver will engage with interested parties throughout the project. Metro Vancouver will host meetings and collect feedback in 2017 and early 2018.
On February 15, 2018, Metro Vancouver hosted an open house for neighbouring businesses, interested residents, transfer station users and municipalities to learn more about the project, facility design and construction timeline. Feedback from the open house will be summarized and provided to the City of Coquitlam as part of the development permit approval process.
