Regional Workshops

​Metro Vancouver is working with other levels of government, the private sector and community organizations to identify priority actions to start immediately to strengthen the local food system. The deliberations and ideas from the roundtables will be used to inform the development of an action plan to begin the implementation of the Regional Food System Strategy.

REGIONAL FOOD SYSTEM ROUNDTABLE - October 8, 2014

At the third and final roundtable to develop an action plan for Metro Vancouver’s Regional Food System Strategy, 60 participants heard from experts and took part in discussions on the theme “Food in Urban Planning”.

Director Harold Steves, Vice-Chair of Metro Vancouver’s Regional Planning and Agriculture Committee, explained that the roundtable series was designed to engage regional food system stakeholders in a process to identify opportunities and priorities for the action plan.p>

The Regional Food System Roundtable on June 19, 2014 engaged member municipalities and other key stakeholders in a discussion of what local governments can do to meet the challenges and issues of recovering edible and nutritious food, strategies for increasing food recovery, and reducing household food waste.

REGIONAL FOOD SYSTEM ROUNDTABLE - November 20, 2013

The Regional Food System Roundtable on November 20, 2013 was a day-long session that engaged member municipalities and other key stakeholders in a discussion of what local governments can do to support the local food economy, focusing on goal 1 (increase capacity to produce food close to home) and goal 2 (improve the financial stability of the food sector).

The deliberations and ideas from the roundtable will be used to inform the development of an action plan to begin the implementation of the Regional Food System Strategy.
