Event Space at Annacis Research Centre

The Annacis Research Centre, which is located on Annacis Island, is equipped to host conferences, meetings, corporate training, and social functions. The largest room can host up to 175 people. The Centre also hosts other kinds of events, like film shoots and disaster simulations for emergency services personnel.

The facility includes a foyer area, a large multipurpose room, three other smaller meeting rooms, and a full kitchen.

Foyer area

The foyer is a large (2300 ft2), bright space that can be used with or without formal seating. This area is used for everything from networking events to sit-down dinners.

A large sliding glass door allows the foyer to be joined with the multipurpose room to create a larger space when needed. A fully equipped kitchen is located behind the foyer area.

Multipurpose room

This large (2088 ft2), rectangular space can accommodate many activities. The room can be joined to the foyer area by retracting a sliding glass door.

The multipurpose room is equipped with:

  • Two independent sets of fully retractable, theatre-quality tiered seating, each with 45 seats
  • Built-in audio-visual equipment and two large screens
  • A retractable wall, allowing the room to be divided into two spaces
  • Tables (rectangular and round) and chairs, available upon request
  • Wireless Internet (throughout the Centre)

With the theatre seating retracted, the room can be used with seating at tables. When the theatre seating is extended, the space functions as a large assembly hall, suitable for lectures and presentations to large groups.

Meeting rooms

The Centre has a Science Classroom that can host meetings with seating for up to 30 people at tables, or up to 50 people without tables. The Centre also has two meeting rooms located off the multipurpose room. The larger meeting room seats 15 and has 12 plug-ins for laptops or other electronic equipment. The smaller meeting room seats eight. All meeting rooms have built-in audio-visual capability.

Transportation, parking, and amenities

The Centre is best reached by car or chartered bus, but it is also possible to get there using public transit. Staff can work with you to arrange for chartered buses or other suitable transportation. The Centre has 150 parking spaces. Staff are glad to arrange catering services on your behalf, or you may choose to arrange catering independently. Alcohol is allowed at events (permit required).
