Metro Vancouver is developing a management plan for Grouse Mountain Regional Park to guide the way that we operate, improve and manage the various resources (trails, wildlife habitat, etc.) over the next 20 years. Through the planning process we’ve developed a management plan framework. Please let us know what you think.

1. The framework’s proposed vision statement is: Grouse Mountain Regional Park is a model of forest stewardship and mountain trail management with resilient forest ecosystems. The park supports ecological and human health, preserves wildlife corridors, connects urban communities to high-elevation woodlands and subalpine areas beyond the park, and provides opportunities to learn about, explore and connect with nature.

4. A number of the goals and objectives relate to protecting and enhancing forest ecosystems and habitat through assessments, ecological planning, education and stewardship.

Do you have suggestions for other actions that could be undertaken to protect and/or enhance the park’s natural values?

5. In 2017/2018, Metro Vancouver piloted a new way of managing the Grouse Grind Trail that allowed the trail to be open in the fall and winter when weather and safety conditions allowed.
