Regional Park Reserves & Ecological Conservancy Areas
Metro Vancouver's regional parks system includes three regional park reserves (Blaney Bog, Widgeon Marsh and Fraser Islands) and two ecological conservancy areas (Burns Bog and Codd Wetland). A reserve is a regional park that is not yet open to the public. The priority for the ecological conservation areas is ecological protection, not public use.

Natural Resource Management
Metro Vancouver's goal is to conserve ecosystem health to ensure long-term resiliency. Regional parks play an important role in conserving natural processes, and also sustaining diverse biological communities and habitat. Our goal is to accommodate public use of parkland within the limits of acceptable impact to the ecosystems.

Dogs in Regional Parks
Management of dog waste is an immense issue and Metro Vancouver has a number of projects underway to make sure that dogs and their owners can enjoy our parks.
Geocaching
The Policy provides direction for the management of geocaching as a recreational activity in Metro Vancouver Regional Parks.
Bylaws
This page provides access to Metro Vancouver’s most commonly requested, active bylaws.
Public Safety
Regional parks are safe places to visit but all natural areas have certain hazards. Park visitors need to make themselves aware of potential hazards and make sure they are well-prepared for a visit to regional parks.
Wildfire Preparedness & Response
Metro Vancouver takes wildfires seriously, not only for the regional park space that it protects but also for the safety of the public and neighbouring residents and businesses.
No Smoking in Regional Parks
Smoking is prohibited in all regional parks and greenways, except in designated smoking areas.
