Project Update

As you may know, Metro Vancouver is constructing a new sewer along Douglas Road and Halifax Street, from Boundary Road to Willingdon Avenue. This work will accommodate area servicing needs, and ensure continued protection of public health and the environment. Construction is currently proceeding along Halifax Street, between Douglas Road and Willingdon Avenue.

    Upcoming Work

Starting mid June 2020, crews will begin work to connect the new pipe to the existing sewer. Crews will also be using above ground pumps to bypass the sewage. Work will take place along Halifax Street, between east of Rosser Avenue and just east of Willingdon Avenue, near Brentwood Town Centre.

Construction for this section of the project is expected to take approximately one month.

    Traffic Impacts

During this work, traffic along Halifax Street, between Rosser Avenue and Willingdon Avenue will be reduced to westbound traffic only. In addition, the northbound left turning lanes from Willingdon Avenue onto Halifax Street will be restricted.

Other impacts will include temporary restrictions to the east and west sidewalks near the intersection of Halifax Street and Willingdon Avenue, construction noise, and dust. Detours will be in place.

Please follow signage and the direction of traffic control personnel and use extra caution.
