Douglas Road SewerDouglas Road Sewer<div class="ExternalClass1975B2CC6F6C41B5A425E388451BCFAC"><p>In order to accommodate future growth in the City of Burnaby, and ensure continued protection of public health and the environment, Metro Vancouver is building a new sewer along Douglas Road and Halifax Street, from Boundary Road to Willingdon Avenue. The Douglas Road Sewer will supplement the existing sewer system in the City of Burnaby and help convey wastewater towards the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Richmond. It will be approximately two kilometers long and will be installed by tunnelling and open cut methods.</p><p>Construction will begin in fall 2018 and will last approximately 18 months.</p> </div>Douglas Road and Halifax Street, from Boundary Road to Willingdon Avenue, City of Burnaby






<div class="ExternalClassABFB025F5BC34D038C988FD07589D37E"><p>Associated impacts may include:</p><ul><li>construction vehicles in the area </li><li>noise </li><li>dust </li><li>traffic delays and traffic pattern changes </li><li>parking restrictions</li></ul></div><div class="ExternalClass0C8A951FC599447C9E18653B53EF05DD"><p>Work hours and associated noise will generally occur from Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. However, there may be times when crews will work extended hours in order to maintain the construction schedule. Crews will attempt, wherever practical, to reduce noise.</p></div><div class="ExternalClass1739A9D266484BDCA2597243A581B621"><p>​Engagement Opportunities</p><p>Metro Vancouver invited residents to learn more about the Douglas Road Sewer Project at an event held on August 16, 2018 in Willingdon Heights Park. See the <a href="/services/liquid-waste/construction-maintenance/ConstructionProjectPublications/DouglasRoadSewerPanels-2018-08-01.pdf" target="_blank">Display Boards </a>for project information.</p><p>Metro Vancouver again invites residents to learn more about the Douglas Road Sewer Project at the Willingdon Community Fair in Willingdon Heights Park on August 14, 2019. </p></div><div class="ExternalClass441FE33B2A914459B96B917ADDAB0FF7"><p>A Community Liaison Officer (CLO) has been assigned to this project.
