Metro Vancouver’s growth is concentrated in compact communities, with access to a range of housing choices close to employment amenities and services. Transit-oriented development focused in centres and along corridors helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution and support an efficient transportation network.

The land base and transportation systems required to nurture a healthy business sector is protected and supported. This includes supporting regional employment and economic growth. Industrial and agricultural land is protected and commerce flourishes in Urban Centres throughout the region.

Metro Vancouver’s unique and vital ecosystems continue to provide the essentials of life – clean air, water and food. The region’s ecologically important areas provide a connected network of habitats. Fewer greenhouse gas emissions are released, we are better prepared for risks from natural hazards and climate change.
