Sperling Pump Station upgradedSperling Pump Station upgraded<div class="ExternalClass8EE474A00BD243958B4D2B2BB940231B"><p>Metro Vancouver has completed an upgrade to the Sperling Pump Station in the City of Burnaby that will support a growing population in the region, expand electrical control and mechanical equipment and replace aging pump and pipe systems. </p><p>Located behind the Bill Copeland Sports Centre near Kensington Avenue and Lougheed Highway, Sperling Pump Station has helped to convey wastewater from the City of Burnaby to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant for nearly 60 years.</p><p>Upgrades to the pump station include new electrical, ventilation and odour control systems, as well as larger pumps, a bypass system and a more robust standby generator. In addition, the upgraded pump station is designed for increased sewer flow and improved seismic resilience to natural disasters.
