|Driving success with Emotive||Driving success with Emotive||<div class="ExternalClassFAEAE6DE8B134026A9E85983345987C2"><p>Metro Vancouver celebrated its busiest season ever for its <a href="https://www.emotivebc.ca/" target="_blank">Emotive: The Electric Vehicle Experience</a> campaign in 2018.</p><p>Emotive -- a community outreach campaign founded in 2014 by Metro Vancouver, the cities of Surrey and Vancouver, Fraser Basin Council and the Province of B.C. -- aims to raise awareness about plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) in B.C. The campaign is delivered province-wide, both online and in-person at community events.</p><p>Our Metro Vancouver events team, with help from staff at Fraser Basin Council, contractors and volunteers, brought Emotive to 45 events last year, in 17 different member jurisdictions. The team conducted more than 2,085 test drives and 25 ride-along trips. </p><p>Overall engagement statistics exceeded past years, especially at large events such as the Vancouver Auto show, which saw 1,452 test drives over five days, with 10 different models of battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. These 2018 test drive numbers represent a 13 percent increase over 2017. </p><p>The 2019 preliminary event schedule for Emotive includes 50 event days, in 14 member jurisdictions. Key events in 2019 include the BCTECH Summit, Vancouver International Auto Show, ElectraFest 2019 and the UBCM Summit.</p><p>Meanwhile, Metro Vancouver is developing updated program content for its EVCondo website, which is designed to assist EV owners, strata councils and property managers in installing electric vehicle charging in Multi Unit Residential Buildings.</p><p>Staff has also scheduled/delivered three workplace sessions and two test drive events using the EV Workplace website, launched last year.
