Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant ExpandsAnnacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Expands<div class="ExternalClass9AD9DBB6EFAC44C0A56CE53604824CFA"><p>​The Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Delta, which serves 1.25 million people, is getting a major upgrade to accommodate increasing growth in Metro Vancouver and continue to protect public health and the environment.</p><p>The first phase of the upgrade project includes additional primary sedimentation tanks, solids contact tanks, secondary clarifiers and improved odour control systems at the plant. This work, under a $252-million construction contract, is underway and expected to be completed in 2021. To date, more than 45,000 cubic metres of concrete has been poured for the new structures.</p><p>The expansion includes a new outfall to the Fraser River. The tunneling and in-river work of the outfall project is currently in the procurement phase.
