Metro Vancouver launches Climate 2050 StrategyMetro Vancouver launches Climate 2050 Strategy<div class="ExternalClass898C27879A7E41E8BB5A7CD5DAC16FC0"><p>Metro Vancouver will begin engaging with the public, municipal staff and other stakeholders next month on its proposed Climate 2050 Strategy, which is aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for the impacts of climate change across the region.</p><p>Stakeholders and the general public will have the opportunity to give feedback on a Climate 2050 Discussion Paper, which highlights suggestions and priorities for the region, until June 30. They can also attend public events, which will be listed on the <a href="/" target="_blank">Metro Vancouver website</a> (search ‘Climate 2050’) and will be promoted through social media.</p><p>A summary of the engagement process and the draft Climate 2050 Strategic Plan are anticipated to be brought to Metro Vancouver’s Climate Action Committee and the Board in September 2018.</p><p>The Climate 2050 Strategy is intended to provide guidance for action across the Metro Vancouver region to reduce carbon emissions and prepare for the unavoidable effects of global warming, which are expected to intensify in the coming years. </p><p>Cities and regional governments are at the forefront of global action on climate change as much of the infrastructure as well as policies and initiatives that affect our neighbourhoods and daily lives fall under local and regional responsibility.
