Zero Waste Conference promotes ‘circular economy’Zero Waste Conference promotes ‘circular economy’<div class="ExternalClass45C46FA66C1A448CBC5AD8124AFD4545"><p>Metro Vancouver’s 2017 Zero Waste Conference will be held on November 1 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, highlighting ‘A Circular Economy Within Reach,’ with a focus on plastics, textiles, food waste, business innovation and circular cities.</p><p>Keynote speaker Cady Coleman, a scientist and retired NASA astronaut, will open the seventh annual conference by sharing her perspective of seeing our planet from space and how it led her to rethink the concept of waste as well as the importance of collaboration.</p><p>This is the only conference in North America that provides participants the opportunity to hear global and local leaders and innovators in waste prevention and the transition to a more circular economy. The speakers will provide inspiration as well as tangible evidence and experience of how business and policy development can be done differently to reduce waste. The conference will wrap up with remarks from Tristram Stuart who will talk about what he has learned in his work to reduce food waste that can be applied to new business models, policy development and citizen engagement to other waste prevention issues. </p><p>Participants will have an opportunity to engage with speakers and with one another to build the waste prevention agenda in Canada.
