This year’s count will be expanded to include a three-day survey in Surrey and involve people living on the region’s waterways and in the Fraser Valley.

The data collected will assist service providers, planners, community groups, health authorities and municipalities with policy development, planning, and prioritizing programs and services to address the needs of the region’s homeless.

The Homeless Count also serves to educate the public and increase awareness about homelessness and the work being done to address it.

The BC Non Profit Housing Association has been contracted to conduct the 2017 count and is recruiting about 1,200 volunteers.
