Regional Parks photo contest Regional Parks photo contest <div class="ExternalClass0415A6B2508B4CD38630F3C4175C27B6"><p>​The third annual Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Photo Contest called upon professional and amateur photographers alike to submit their best shots showing why they love regional parks. The contest was open through spring and summer.</p><p>Selecting the winners was no easy feat. Judges representing Metro Vancouver and <a href="http://www.pacificparklands.com/" target="_blank">Pacific Parklands Foundation</a> had the challenging task of sorting through 161 entries taken in 20 of Metro Vancouver’s 23 regional parks. </p><p>Photo entries poured in showcasing the many reasons regional parks are so beloved. The entries included stunning landscapes, a diversity of plants and animals, and people connecting with nature. </p><p>In the end, 3 winners and 18 honourable mentions were selected. The first place winner of this year’s photo contest was S. Tanner for her entry titled 'A Bridge Over' taken in Kanaka Creek Regional Park. As Tanner described, "Here is another stunning regional park, Kanaka Creek. Another well laid out park with plenty of space to have some quiet time. Beautiful trees, a view of the mountains in the winter, and an easy stroll that also leads you to the ever entertaining Fraser River where you can see an amazing sunset. This picture was taken on the first day of 2016 and the day did not disappoint."</p><p>Metro Vancouver Regional Parks protects more than 10,000 hectares of diverse ecosystems and provides access to them for over 11 million visitors each year.
