EcoBlitz week is capped off with a celebratory planting and barbeque at Surrey Bend Regional Park on Sunday, October 23.

As a volunteer, you can choose hands-on stewardship activities from planting up new wetlands in Kanaka Creek or Campbell Valley Regional Parks to planting conifer seedlings as part of a new forest at Aldergrove Regional Park.

You can also take part in restoration planting in areas of Burnaby Lake and Tynehead Regional Parks where groups such as the Burnaby Lake Park Association and the Evergreen Foundation have been diligently removing invasive plants for years. Removing Scotch broom at Boundary Bay Regional Park or working with the Bowen Island Weed Warriors at Crippen Regional Park are other great options.

Visit the Metro Vancouver Ecological Restoration Team’s Meetup site for more details.

Watch this inspiring video showing the inaugural EcoBlitz event in 2014.
