In 2015, volunteers contributed over 40,000 hours through stewardship activities and habitat enhancement projects across 21 Regional Parks. The high level of citizen engagement is a testament to the passion and dedication of Regional Park volunteers.

On April 30th Metro Vancouver will host 150 of our Regional Park volunteers in tours of Kanaka Creek Regional Park, experiencing everything from photography workshops to canoeing and hiking along the canyon trails.

This annual event, called Celebrating Partners, recognizes our current volunteers and partners, and re-energises everyone to share ideas, meet one another, and celebrate the impact their time and effort makes. It's also an opportunity for Metro Vancouver to say thank you to the volunteers, partner organizations and community groups that take care of our region's important natural areas.

The volunteer celebration is in Kanaka Creek Regional Park this year, and participants will be joined by members of the Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society (KEEPS), the Bell-Irving Fish Hatchery, Ridge Wilderness Adventures, BCIT staff, and historian Jane Watt.

If you or your community group want to get involved in volunteer work to support the Regional Parks system, find information on our website.
