Have you tried an electric vehicle? <div class="ExternalClass26047869BA8F449A82ABFC5229E41C80"><p>Metro Vancouver hosted a booth in the Innovation Exposition at GLOBE 2016: The Leadership Summit for Sustainable Business held in Vancouver March 2-4, 2016. </p><p>In keeping with the innovation theme the booth highlighted a number of initiatives Metro Vancouver's Air Quality and Climate Change group is addressing in its day-to-day work. </p><p>Parked in the exhibit was one of Metro Vancouver's 100% Electric Smart Car fleet vehicles, which served as a great ice breaker for engaging conversations with local and international visitors.  But it also demonstrated how Metro Vancouver is "walking the talk." Many attendees were surprised to find out it was not a demo model, but an actual Metro Vancouver fleet vehicle.  </p><p>Also at the Exposition, Premier Christy Clark announced that eligible electric vehicles in British Columbia will now be allowed to travel in high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes throughout the province without having to meet the occupancy requirements. The Province also announced renewed funding to the Clean Energy Vehicles for BC program which provides rebates for full electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.</p><p>Metro Vancouver has been running <strong>Emotive: The Electric Vehicle Experience</strong> campaign in partnership with <strong>Plug In BC</strong> for the past two years. This campaign brings electric vehicles to events throughout the region to introduce residents to this viable, low carbon alternative to the internal combustion engine.
