New AQ Bulletin initiative put to the test in late NovemberNew AQ Bulletin initiative put to the test in late November<div class="ExternalClass06603D6CCE394FEBB2161D99CE3E3D39"><p>Localized spikes in concentrations of <a href="/services/air-quality/AirQualityPublications/PMFactsheet.pdf" target="_blank">fine particulate matter</a> often occur in the fall and winter when residential wood burning is more popular. In late November, Metro Vancouver issued an Air Quality Bulletin due to intermittent high concentrations of fine particulate matter. Overnight temperature inversions and light winds, especially in the evening and overnight, prevented air pollutants from dispersing.</p><p>Fine particulate matter is found in smoke from wood stoves, fireplaces and open burning.
