Lions Gate Secondary Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Lions Gate Secondary Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade <div class="ExternalClass2289BF87A85A433893505CF1341C03E8"> <p>The Metro Vancouver Board has identified the $700-million <a target="_blank" href="/lionsgate">Lions Gate Secondary Wastewater Treatment Plant</a> as its top priority infrastructure project for Building Canada funding support, and we are working closely with the provincial and federal governments to secure this funding.</p> <p>Members of the Lions Gate Public Advisory Committee are being recruited through an application process, and the proposed membership list will be presented to the Metro Vancouver Board’s Utilities Committee in the fall.</p> <p>Features of the new Lions Gate Secondary Wastewater Treatment Plant will include:</p> <ul> <li>Full enclosure with a robust two-stage odour control technology.</li> <li>Aesthetic integration into the surrounding community. </li> <li>Resource recovery including energy from treated wastewater and digested solids, and reclaimed water.</li> <li>Design that can respond to natural disasters, rising sea levels, population growth, and changing regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Educational space for the public to learn more about wastewater treatment and water management, and community space for gatherings and activities.</li> <li>Indoor and outdoor public space. </li></ul></div>|#a034b42c-1781-40ae-b748-435ae38ef7b4;L0|#0a034b42c-1781-40ae-b748-435ae38ef7b4|Issue 1;GTSet|#d14ffe11-45dc-48fb-8684-ff109cf15a74<div class="ExternalClassE2800FD6689C4C89B8A4992F3A23116C"> <p>To comply with new regulations and standards adopted by the federal and provincial governments for secondary treatment for wastewater, Metro Vancouver will replace the current 53-year-old Lions Gate wastewater treatment plant with a new secondary treatment facility by 2020.</p></div>
