Protect Conservation and Recreation Lands
Why it's important to the region
Nearly half of the region’s land base is part of the Conservation and Recreation regional land use designation, which includes watersheds, parks, or conservation areas.
Outside of lands designated Conservation and Recreation, a number of different tools are used by municipalities and others to protect natural areas. These include the use of zoning, Environmental Development Permit Areas (EDPAs) and conservation covenants.
