Welcomehttp://www.metrovancouver.org/metroupdate/issue-40/572/WelcomeWelcome

It's been a cold, wet and blustery February but we've been busy. All of our Regional Parks, for instance, are open and drawing visitors, following a series of ice storms last winter, and we have launched our Mobile Air Monitoring Unit on the North Shore to monitor air quality on that side of the Burrard Inlet.

We've also started work on a new Annacis Water Supply Tunnel to transport more water to the growing communities south of the Fraser and are getting close to wrapping up a new sewer line on the North Shore. And as we continue to pursue our zero waste goals, new disposal bans are coming forth for expanded polystyrene, or as most of us know it, Styrofoam, so don't be dumping it in the trash.

And check out our Metro Vancouver Close Up videos: we have some great insight on the King Tide – climate change is happening – as well tales on inspiring Regional Parks volunteer Kiyoshi Takahashi, Restoring Creek Habitat for Salmon and Surrey's art spaces. Enjoy!

Metro Vancouver is a federation of 21 municipalities, one Electoral Area and one Treaty First Nation that collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services. Its core services are drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Metro Vancouver also regulates air quality, plans for urban growth, manages a regional parks system and provides affordable housing.

Read more...Welcome0 0
