Leaving the tap running while brushing wastes 700 litres of drinking water over a month. </li><li>A family of four washes an average of 300 loads of laundry per year. For the most efficient use of water, fill your washing machine completely.</li><li>Even with an efficient washing machine, one load a day uses 340 litres of water a week. Washing less loads by re-using towels and other items is one of the easiest ways to save water around the house. </li><li>Most dishwashers use the same amount of water whether running half or full loads. Fill your dishwasher completely; at an average of 215 loads per year that wasted water really adds up.</li><li>Your washing machine’s permanent press setting adds water at the end of the wash cycle and can use twice the amount of water as a normal load of laundry.</li><li>On an average winter day Metro Vancouver delivers about one billion litres of water to municipalities in our region.
